It matches the genre/colour scheme of the magazine as the magazine uses three main colours; Red, White and a grey/blue. These colours really stand out and bring attention to the magazine. This masthead does not go across the width of the cover as it takes up a permanent residence within the top left corner, this seems to be the usuall place for the NME logo/masthead. It may appeal to the audience as it is plain but bold and stands out .
